With around 12,000 professionals in 65 locations the Engineering Group designs, develops and manages innovative solutions for the business areas where digitalization is having the biggest impact. With significant investments in R&D, Engineering plays a leading role in research, by coordinating national and international projects thanks to its team of 450 researchers and data scientists and a network of academic partners and universities throughout Europe.

My task as UX designer in Engineering was to manage different projects in the Public Administration field. When necessary also direct the work of some Freelancer or Agency hired to manager times of overload.
In my day to day my responsibilities were:

  • Consulting with clients to understand their goals and explaining research results
  • Developing personas and usage scenarios
  • Conducting usability testing and create reports showcasing research findings
  • Creating wire-frames, storyboards, sitemaps, and user journeys
  • Creating product prototypes
  • Analysing user feedback and activity, and iterating to enhance user experience
  • Assisting with content development
  • Conducting competitor and customer analysis

The Italian Public Administration has started an important process of reform that has profoundly changed the activities of public interaction with the public, also thanks to the introduction of new technologies and the modernization of Information Systems.
Veneto Region has promoted the drafting of an innovative project called "MyPortal". The project aims to encourage the relationship between the Local Public Administration and the user by providing both citizens and businesses with a tool for access to services provided by the Public Administration that can be easily customized.
The project is based, initially, on the construction of a general portal in which local administrations will make available information in the public domain. On the same portal will be given to each citizen the opportunity to build their own personal portal through which to access the information of their interest.
The tool is built in such a way as to meet the needs of even the weakest sections of the community, such as elderly or disabled people, as well as small and medium enterprises.

MyPA is the portal of services dedicated to citizens and businesses of the Veneto Region. From MyPa is possible to access the Citizen's Personal Area and recive a customized presentation of the available service, monitor the updates on the request. To navigate the MyPA's services are available: input research, geolocalization and Marco, a friendly assistant throw the services.
In the Citizen's Personal Area, MyPA's reserved area, you can request information and services, monitor the progress of your administrative procedures, select topics or entities of interest, configure a notification system to be notified each time a news or event of interest is published, set reminders and deadlines and finally view the status of payments made to the PA.

Regional calls for proposals represent an important opportunity for companies, public and private bodies. In fact, they allow you to take advantage of specific contributions to be allocated to various types of objectives: from internationalization, to the growth of SMEs, up to their digitization. In recent years, thanks to the intense activity of the European Union, Member States and regions have welcomed and distributed various financial resources through a huge number of calls for proposals. Among the most active territories, the Lombardy Region stands out, which has created an ad hoc system.

The platform in question is called Siage and allows easy access to published calls, consult all the relevant documentation and send applications online, keeping up to date with the procedure.

Once you have registered, you can freely access your Private Area. You can associate different profiles to the same user. For example, this mode is recommended for owners of companies or organizations. From this space, it is possible to fill out calls for tenders, provided that they are in line with the registered profile. If the system refuses access to the application, the profile probably does not meet the requirements indicated in the call.

Before filling in the online application for access to the call for proposals, you can scroll through all the fields: in this way you prepare in advance everything necessary to enter all the data in a single solution. At the end, after completing all the forms and attachments, you will be able to make the online application. The progress can be monitored through the private area. In addition, the Lombardy Region can request any changes or documents to be added to the application: the procedure can always be carried out from the personal profile.
